Our Long Filamentous Feather Friends
The egret is one of the bird-species found in great numbers around the coasts of Sabah- North Borneo. Kota Kinabalu is home to the great egret family and they can be seen all year round, especially around the swampy areas or mangroves. From my expereince, the months of March & April see egrets gathering in greater [...]

Post Sunset Ceremony
Officially, it was to be a Sunset Ceremony by the Malaysian Navy at the KK Esplanade, but the sky was already pitch dark when the ceremony took place. I wonder how the organisers arrived at the sunset time? Scientifically or by instinct? According to my photo time info it was around 7:15pm when the lowering [...]

Car-Spotting By the Lagoon
Now that you have finished and done with the tour of Likas Bay Park, why not just pop across the road to Likas Lagoon to do a spot of bird-watching? Whoa… whoa… whoa….. keep it down. Sorry to keep your blood pressure up. I mean bird watching of the feathery kind.

Taman Awam Teluk Likas
This is a popular picnic spot for the locals. Weekends will see the beach swamped with picnickers having a fun family day out. And of course a dip in the sea will go without saying. The beach is also one of the venues earmarked, unofficially, for the New Year celebration. On New [...]

The Resurrection of Christ
The end of Ash Wednesday- how was the boiled bacon & grey peas dinner? The day the Christians celebrate & believe that Jesus came back to life three days after his death on the cross.
Easter Sunday would be the most attended Christian masses of the year, I am sure. Good Friday saw [...]

The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ
On this day the Christian world will commemorate the day Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross.
The name “Good Friday” may well be derived from ‘God’s Friday’ in the same way that good-bye is derived from ‘God be with ye’.
The Roman Catholic Church treats Good Friday as a fast day, according to [...]

The 10th KK CITY DAY REGATTA 2009 was held over two days on Feb 21 & 22 at Tanjung Aru Beach. It must have been a forgettable event as I have forgotten all about it- till now. Never mind, better late than never.

From Hongkong with Drama
Cut! Cut! Cut! Cut! …………
“Born Rich”- I would be so lucky!- the new Hongkong soap opera drama series was on location shoot in KK recently. And you know what? It was certainly a most enlightening experience for me. Did you know that being on location shoot is not what it is cracked up to be? [...]

So me and a friend were bored sometime last week, and we wanted to go out for “yamcha”, which is literally translated as “drink tea” in Cantonese. Anyway, we were racking our brains for an exciting venue (yes, yes, I know: near impossible!) when I [...]

Art, oh yeah, the word that puts a chill up my spine. However, if you are an art connoisseur or a lover of fine art, then look no further. When you are visiting Kota Kinabalu do drop in at the Wisma Budaya Building on the Tunku Abdul Rahman Road, where a few art [...]
