Here Come the Biker Chicks

Yo, medallion men! I’ve found the biker chicks. Hope you are ecstatic in cloud 9. You’ve gone and missed the show, haven’t you? Now regrets are what you’ve got! This one is dedicated to all the medallion men and lady-killers.

Are These the Real McCoys Or Harley Davidson?

And folks, the final day was full of highlights plus rainstorms. Soaked to the bone I was, to grab you these final pictures of Borneo beauties.

Woi, Woi, Woi, Are You Looking at the Merc or the Chicks?

Will there be any more future Motor Shows? No idea! We shall wait and see. Overall, the show was quite good, if only more auto clubs and the motor trades could participate and put up a splendid display of Automobiles, Sabah would have been on the way to overtaking KL in the business of Premier Car Show. But then that is only a wish- Sabah being a small market and lack of good infrastructures, exhibition halls and all that. One other shortfall is also the lack of information & programmes at the show. Still, at least all the medallion men are quite contented other than getting the big red ears from the wives for chatting up and ogling at the chicks. Was it worth it, medallion men? Did the wives mention that Motor Show is a No Go area in future? Shame!

Mosey On Down To The Motor Show

Rain & humid sunny days greeted the Sabah motor show. But still, I did mosey on down to the Auto Show held recently at the Likas Sports Complex parking lots. It was quite an interesting day out for me. Pity, the event was not given a bigger publicity to draw in more crowds to see the show. The organiser did not even attempt to advertise in the press nor did the press provide any coverage for the event. But knowing the local press, such private events would not ever get a mention unless a big advertisement is placed with the newspaper. It would have been good for tourism if the organisers had put up a better show with proper organisation and more programmes laid on. Also, cars on display were haphazardly dumped on the parking lots and cramped together so as to mask the resplendence of the cars on display. And a better place with scenic settings and a nice platform for the cars would not have gone amiss. Psychologically, this would have generated more sales for the exhibitors as anybody knows that a conducive ambience could make or break a sale.

Sabah still has long way to go to catch up with KL in exhibitions. Still, kudos should be given to the organiser for putting in the efforts to organise such a show. Considering this is the first time the Sabah motor industry has organised such a big show, all the faults mentioned can be forgiven. Hopefully, this is not a one off event. I remember the IT Fair took quite a while to take off. But now it draws massive attendance each time the Fair comes around.

As far as I know there were only two Auto Clubs which participated in the show- the Borneo 4×4 and the North Borneo Scoot Community. Where were the others- the Mini, Beetle, Superbike….? Would have been fantastic, especially with the Biker Chicks attending. I hope there is such a thing as Biker Chick or Biker’s Chick. Or maybe I have been misled.

And I was quite tempted ask this guy what exactly is this scooter supposed to be? But seeing the bandages soaked in what looked like blood, I thought the better of it. Unless I want to end up looking like the bike.

And for the masterblaster enthusiasts, here is the Bone Shaker Monstrosity. Wonder if the bone is shaken loose first or the car atoms?

Ahhh….. for all the medallion men out there, I save the best to the last. Presenting to you the best that Sabah can offer. Now you wish you had attended the show, don’t you? Last day (11/01/09) today. Don’t miss it now, you hear!

Night Lights in Kota Kinabalu(KK)

When the night falls, KK springs into a life of its own. The kaleidoscope of lights & colours just before the nightfall gives rise to a sense of  wonderment about the splendour of nature blended in with man-made colours of light. The night vista in KK bowls one over about the beauty of KK, which one often overlooks in the hustle bustle of city life.

KK has also got some notable distinctions in quirky architectural edifice- such as that of  Wisma Intiutama. The building is shaped in a triangular fashion and at one end of the building it tapers off to a narrow point. You often wonder who the poor bugger that is assigned an office at that minuscule corner of the building. He must have been sent to Timbuktu for insubordination.

When it comes to naming a business, KK is also not far behind in the championship league of quirky name. We have a cineplex called Growball inside the Centre Point Shpping Complex. How the name was arrived at one would never know.  I hope it is not meant to be rude to the men who love to take their loved-ones for a hanky-panky night out at the Growball Cinemax.

And the Centre Point Shopping Complex looks quite majestic when the night comes. In the night setting it looks magnificent, but in the daylight it is just a square box with no aesthetic architectural beauty to it. Though a lot of my friends would think otherwise.
