Taman Ujana Rimba Tropika
A taman (park) mostly utilised by local health freaks and joggers. This park comes alive around 4 in the afternoon. From the name of the park I am sure the initial intention was meant for another tourist attraction but perhaps the City Council lost its way somewhere along the way. Anyhow, it’s a relatively youug park and therefore not many trees or greeneries can be marvelled at. In fact, the park looks more like a concrete rainforest with so many paved-walkways and concrete artefacts. The park was a long time coming and at one stage was left derelict to the elements. Give it another few years, when the trees have grown taller and more floras are planted, it may yet be another landmark that KK can be proud of and boasted about. For now, a visit may or may not be worthwhile depends on how you look at things. If you love hibiscus, then this is your kind of park.
Perhaps someone can tell me what exactly is the sculture all about. Does it tell a story? I heard it being called a Giant somewhere on the web. It is quite an appropriate name. Kudos to the guy who first gave it a name. Or maybe it’s a memorial monument. But in memory of what? Gulliver or Ogre?

Hiking Your Way There
You can hike your way there if you don’t mind the humid tropical heat. Alternatively, hop on the Penampang Union Transport buses going on the Jalan Penampang route. It’s about 3 to 4 miles from the City Centre. The fare is about RM1.50, I think.
